iPhone 5s

The iPhone 5s is set to be Goldgenie’s fasyesy selling phone in 2013

It’s enough to make the Apple fan-boys go giddy with desire. The iPhone 5S is definitely on its way – with a predicted release in mid-September of both the iPhone 5S and the less-equipped but cheaper iPhone 5C – complete with a whopping 128GB storage option and a chance to have a gold colourway. That’s correct – you now have the chance to own a matte gold iPhone 5S (wonder where they got that idea from?).

As well as carrying over most of the features Apple fans will already be accustomed to with the current iPhone 5, including the four-inch screen, analysts predict Apple will make their typical processor upgrade, this time to a new A7 design with 1GB of LPDDR3 RAM. The latest chip promises to increase efficiency by up to a fifth, and is expected to be designed by Apple themselves based on the ARMv8 64-bit architecture. Apple’s control of the iPhone 5S’s iOS7 operating system and its hardware means it is able to optimise the faster LPDDR3 RAM spec for the A7 SoC, thus keeping the amount of addressable memory to 1GB.

Further tweaks are likely to include an upgrade to the iPhone 5S’s rear-facing camera, with a larger f2.0 aperture lens and dual LED flashes. In addition, Apple’s purchase of the fingerprint-sensor maker AuthenTec for $350M in 2012 surely points the way to the iPhone 5S finally being the model in which fingerprint security is implemented.

Storage-wise, the new model is likely to follow the change made to the fourth generation iPad earlier in 2013 by adding a new option for 128GB of on-board flash memory.

The dream of finally owning a gold iPhone 5S is also likely to be realised, as non 24 CT gold parts allegedly made for the 5S were leaked in June 2013. Full details of the chassis have yet to emerge, but it seems inevitable that a gold colour (not genuine 24ct. Gold) casing is likely to join the usual black and silver options.

Near-field communication, in which mobiles can connect to other mobiles and devices simply by touching them or being in close proximity of them, is unlikely to be implemented by Apple at this stage.

With that September launch date approaching, the chance for iPhone users to finally strike for gold with a gold iPhone 5S seems just around the corner.

If you want to be one step ahead of the crowd you can pre-order a 24 CT Gold iPhone 5s customised in genuine gold directly from Goldgenie.
