I love red carpet glamour and as the 5th of August is the anniversary of Marilyn Monroe’s death, this fabulous gold dress definitely deserves a mention. ‘The Gold Dress’ designed by William Travilla was worn in the 1953 film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes by my favourite icon Marilyn Monroe. The hand pleated halter neck dress was one of Marilyn’s favourite designs and is one of mine too:
Famous for her exquisite facial features and her curvaceous figure – the American, singer, actress and model was the ultimate triple threat.
I loved what she represented; beauty, talent, glamour, femininity, determination, sexuality, scandal and could anyone have delivered the “Diamonds Are A Girls’ Best Friend” message better than Ms Monroe? I doubt it.
Her super star status still rakes in money! The pink gown she wore in Gentlemen Prefer blondes sold at auction for £213,000 in June this year.
What was not to love about Marilyn?
