Tottenham in North London was struck by tragedy earlier this summer when 22 year old musician Lukey Maxwell died after being stabbed in the early hours of the morning of June 5th. The kind young man was a talented artist, passionate about music and he had many friends in the Grime scene. Skepta, a well known rapper who has performed with artists such as Kayne West and Drake, swiftly released a song in tribute to his close friend. The song, “Lukey World”, is an emotional piece and it is clear how much Lukey was loved and is missed by the rapper.
Goldgenie Founder and CEO Laban Roomes knew Lukey and was so impressed with his lyrical tribute that he decided to present Skepta with a 24K Gold iPhone 6 Brilliance to commemorate his friend. Yesterday, Skepta visited the Goldgenie London headquarters and was given the phone, laser engraved in Lukey’s memory. Skepta seemed very touched by the gesture of his new phone and he spent some time chatting together with Laban on how he remains grounded in light of his success and busy schedule. Skepta revealed how he keeps close to his true friends, not letting the hype effect his genuine relationships with his key people and by keeping true to himself… regardless.
